PCGS Graded Seated Liberty Dollar Coin Coins Dollars For Sale
Graded Seated Liberty Dollars
The Seated Liberty Silver dollar was produced by the United States Mint from 1840 to 1873 and contains 0.77344 troy ounces of silver. The Seated Liberty Silver dollars were created in high quantities during that period of time and used as everyday currency up until 1853 when the value of the coin exceeded its face value. In 1870 they were circulated once again because the silver price went down and the coins were no longer worth more than their face value.
The coin is named for the obverse design which was uniform and matched the Half dime, Dime, Twenty-cent piece, Quarter, and Half dollar. Its obverse and reverse were both designed by Christian Gobrecht.
